Surb Targmanchats Church, located in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, is a historical Armenian Apostolic church and a religious pilgrimage destination for Armenians. The church, created by the Mkhitarists in 1854, is dedicated to the memory of the partakers of the Armenian Genocide. The church is built in a Baroque style and has been reconstructed and refurbished many times over the years.

History:
The Mkhitarists, a group of monks from the Black Mountain Monastery, were given the responsibility of building the new church in Yerevan upon their arrival in 1854. Construction of Surb Targmanchats was completed in 1877 and the first mass was held in the church in 1879. The church is the site where the victims of the Armenian Genocide were first memorialized in May of 1915. The church’s bells were later inscribed with the names of the victims of the genocide. The church was remodeled in 1968, with the addition of a new chapel and dome. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Armenia.
