Surb Nshan Church is a 12th century Armenian Apostolic Church located in Yerevan, Armenia. It is considered to be one of the main spiritual centres of Armenian Christianity. Built in 1190, during the rule of the Bagratuni dynasty, the church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. It is a single-nave basilica with a relatively large bell-tower located in its western side. The temple is believed to be the main spiritual centre of Armenian Christianity and was the scene of numerous religious ceremonies.

History:
Surb Nshan Church has a long and storied history. During the 12th century, it served as the cathedral church for Yerevan and the surrounding region. In 1215, it was plundered by Mongols and severely damaged. In the 18th century, it was renovated and parts of a second bell-tower were added to the western side. In the 19th century, the church was further restored and parts of a bell-tower were built in the northern side. Today, the church is still an important place of worship and is visited by local people and Tourists alike. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Armenia.
