Salta Argentina Temple is the 115th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the first temple in Argentina. It was announced on April 6, 2020, and was dedicated on November 21, 2021. Salta Argentina Temple History The Salta Argentina Temple was announced on April 6, 2020 by Thomas S. Monson, then President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Construction began in early 2021 after the groundbreaking ceremony was held in December 2020. The walls of the temple, located on a hill overlooking the city of Salta began to rise rapidly in the following months. Salta Argentina Temple Facts •The Salta Argentina Temple is the first in Argentina, the 115th operating temple, and the fourth in South America. •The temple is 5,500 square feet in size and contains an Ascension Room, seven ordinance rooms, and a celestial room. •The exterior is made of polished quartzite stone, mostly from the region. •The temple was dedicated by Elder Juan A. Uceda of the Quorum of the Seventy on November 21, 2021. Salta Argentina Temple Services The Salta Argentina Temple serves Latter-day Saints in the region. Services include performing sacred ordinances and making covenants with God, such as sealing marriages. Ordinances can also be performed in behalf of deceased ancestors.
