History:

Sir Vivian Richards Stadium is a multi-purpose cricket stadium in North Sound, Antigua and Barbuda. The stadium was established in 2007. It was named after Sir Vivian Richards, a former West Indies Captain, in order to recognize his contributions to West Indian cricket. The stadium has hosted a variety of international tournaments and games including the 2007 Cricket World Cup tournament, the 2008-09 Carib Beer Cup, the 2009 Stanford Super Series, the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 and several other domestic and international twenty-20 matches. The stadium has a capacity of 13,032, making it the largest cricket ground in the Caribbean. It features four stands from which fans can watch matches and it boasts state-of-the-art facilities such as two indoor practice pitches, four practice grounds, conference and media centers, lecture theatres, bars, restaurants and souvenir shops. The stadium is managed by the Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association and is host to a number of local and regional tournaments including the T20 Caribbean Elite Cup, the Women’s Caribbean T20, and the Antigua and Barbuda Twenty20 Tournaments.
