The Memorial 4 de Fevereiro (Memorial da Independência de Angola) in Luanda, Angola, commemorates the struggle for Angolan independence. On 4 February 1961, the National Front for the Liberation of Angola was formed, launching the armed struggle in the country for independence from Portugal. The memorial is dedicated to those who sacrificed their lives for the cause. It comprises a large granite statue of the unknown soldier, accompanied by a wall of names of those who died in the struggle, and a bronze plaque summarising the history of the struggle.
