History:
The Pal-Arinsal ski resort is located in La Massana in Andorra and was built in 1979 to become one of the premier ski resorts in the Pyrenees. It became very popular in the 1990s with snowboarders, as the ski area had some of the best snowboarding terrain in Europe at the time. The resort was also home to the FIS Snowboard World Cup in 1991. The resort boasts of having one of the largest ski areas in Europe, with a total of 95 km of ski slopes connected to the ski resort. Pal-Arinsal also offers the third-longest ski season in Europe, from November through April, and is serviced by a chairlift and several gondolas. The resort has five distinct sectors, each one designed to cater to a different type of skier. These sector include: El Tarter, El Paso, Grau Roig, El Charcal, and La Serra. Plus, there are also several off-slope areas including restaurants, snow parks, and adventure activities. In addition to the downhill slopes, cross-country skiers, snowshoers, and hikers can enjoy the area’s numerous trails. The resort also offers an array of snow-filled activities, such as a snow sports school, a snow-tubing course, and a sleigh ride. Today, Pal-Arinsal is owned and managed by the ski lift company Xixerella SA. Their mission is to continue improving the overall quality of the ski resort while preserving and protecting the surrounding environment.
