The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) is a Pentecostal megachurch and denomination founded in Lagos, Nigeria. The pastor and founder of the church is Enoch Adeboye. The church has more than 42,000 branches in Nigeria and several other countries. History The RCCG was founded in 1952 by Reverend Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi to focus on improving the spiritual and physical lives of individuals through promoting the gospel of Jesus Christ. After Akindayomi's death in 1980, the church was led by Reverend Francis Ade-Baje who held office till 1981 when his deputy, Reverend Joseph Adefarasin was elected General-Superintendent. Adefarasin appointed Enoch Adeboye as the General-Overseer and on stepped down in 2009. Adeboye has been in office since. The RCCG has organized numerous outreach programs including the construction of hospitals and schools. It has also provided food and clothing for the needy in Nigeria and throughout the world. Facts The RCCG is the largest Pentecostal Christian denomination in Nigeria with more than 10 million members. It also has a significant presence in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, South Africa, Ghana, and several other countries. The church has an internet radio station and a television channel called Dove TV. It also publishes magazines and other printed materials. Services The RCCG has various weekly services such as the Sunday School service, the Friday Bible Study service, the Power Must Change Hands (PMCH) prayer meeting, and other midweek services. It also has weekend programs such as the Weekend of Bliss (WoB), the Leadership Development Programme (LDP), and other seminars and events.
