History:

The National Museum of History of Tirana is the main repository of museum collections in the Albanian capital Tirana. It was established in 1981, and houses archaeological, numismatic and ethnographic artifacts, plus a section of old Albanian paintings. The National Museum of History is housed in a building constructed in 1821 by Malik Pasha of Egypt, who built a lodge there for his trading activities. The building is on the south bank of the Lana River near Tirana Castle, and has been part of the museum complex since 1981.
