1. Monument to Nasreddin Hodja

Naseeruddin Khoa is one of the most popular folklore characters in Central Asia and the Middle East. He is shown as an old man riding a donkey. He has an interesting story and advice to tell. His comical way of telling jokes and stories made him famous and people always surrounded him wherever he went. This popular landmark in Uzbekistan is located in the center of Bukhara, near the architectural complex of Lebe-Katz. The statue of the national folkloric hero has already become part of the ensemble. The bronze sculpture depicts Nasirdin Hodja on a donkey. With a clever smile, he has a coin with two fingers. 2. Ikan Kala

The historic center of Khiva, Ikan Kala, was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. There are more than sixty architectural monuments in Uzbekistan: palaces, mosques, madrasas, minarets, and mausoleums. The fort of Kun-arq was built in the 17th century for the administration of Khan in the Ikan Kala. Each of the four walls of Ikan Kala has gates (gates). The western gates – Ata-Dwarawa are located next to the Kunya-Arc, the northern – Baacha-Dwarawa are on the road to Urngech, the eastern – Palavan-Dwaraja to Hazarasp and Amu-Dariya River and the southern – Tash-darwaza Qarakum Desert. Ata-Darwaja was destroyed in 1920 and restored in the 1970s.

3. Statue of Amir Temur

The history of Samarkand is closely associated with the name of Amir Timur. The great leader was born in Shakrisbaz. He managed to win 27 states; Iran, Turan, Rum, Maghreb, Syria, Egypt, Iraq-Arabic, Iraq-Adzimi, Mazandaran, Gilan, Shirvan, Azerbaijan, Fars, Khorasan, Chetta, Great Tataria, Khorezam, Khotan, Kabulistan, Bucketsemin, and India, etc. He built a vast empire and ruled it for 69 years. 4. Ark Fortress 

The Arak fort in Bukhara was used to be the residence of the Bukharan mines and the rich which is today the oldest monument in the city. This famous historical building in Uzbekistan has an area of   4.2 hectares and is situated on a 20-meter high embankment. According to legend, the founder of the citadel is Siuvush, the son of Kai Kavus here. Condemned by his stepmother, the young man was forced to flee to Iran on the land of Turan in present-day Central Asia. At the court of King Afrosiob, Siyavush met the ruler’s daughter, Farangi, and was fascinated by her beauty and decided to marry her.

5. Monument of Alisher Navoiy

The most important monument in Uzbekistan named Elisher Navoi Park is the statue of Alisher Navoi. It is the capital’s largest park with monuments, clean streets, and a small lake. Alisher Navoi was an Ottoman poet and philosopher who lived in the XV century. His Opus Magnum is “Khamsa”, a collection of five poems based on national epics. His legacy is a collection of over 30 works in verses and prose. Alisher Navoi was the first to write in the Uzbek language and thus introduced Uzbek literature into a new frontier.

7. Courage Earthquake Memorial

The memorial complex “Courage” was opened in 1970 and is dedicated to the earthquake in Tashkent. On 26 April, an earthquake of magnitude 8,3 shook the capital and rendered half of the city homeless. The very epicenter of the earthquake was under the block of today’s monument. With the aid of the USSR, the city was rebuilt in the shortest period. This historical monument in Uzbekistan is the statue of a woman hugging her child and a man protecting them. There is also a black Labradorite cube with the date and time of the earthquake; 26 April 1966, 5:24 am. The cracks of the cube symbolize the breaking of the earth. 8. Kalyan Mosque

Today’s Kalyan Mosque was built in the first shaanibids in the early 16th century. Since that time, except in Soviet times, it has operated as the Church Mosque of Bukhara. This beautiful monument in Uzbekistan replaced the 12th-century old Qarakanid Cathedral Mosque, which was built together with the Kalyan Minar. This She-Bainid mosque is comparable with the Temuric Cathedral mosques in Samarkand and Herat. It is in several structures behind the Bibi-Khanam Mosque in Samarkand, but its area of   130 x 80 meters is higher than the previous one.

9. The Monument of People’s Friendship

It is a memorial to the mercy, and kindness of the human soul. It is dedicated to the martyr Shamkhamudov and his wife who took care of 15 orphaned children during the Great Patriotic War. He was the initiator of the movement in Tashkent to adopt orphans from vacant areas of World War II. This important monument in Uzbekistan was opened in 1982 and is now located in the center of the city, opposite the Isthikol palace. It presents the martyr Shamkhamudov and his wife surrounded by their children.

10. Jami (Juma) Mosque

The main building represents a cube space blocked by a dome with four windows in a low drum. The dome is spherical without ornamentation and is based on a circular shield. At the entrance is a curved lancet of small lower, not Central Asian but more likely Gothic contour. The layout of this religious monument in Uzbekistan is an extension of a large rectangular building running east to west. By the 18th c. The gallery surrounding the mosque’s courtyard had collapsed, and the main building was already vandalized. At that time, the galleys were merged with the funds of Qazi Ziauddin.
