The Templo Expiatorio del Santísimo Sacramento was designed by architect Ramón Edisson in the early twentieth century and was originally intended to be a grandiose project, with an auditorium, four naves, a dome and an adjacent sacristy. The design was quite unique and the church still features a number of original features which sets it apart from other churches in the country. Construction was completed in 1909 and it was consecrated by the Archbishop of Guadalajara in 1912.
