The Sydney Triratna Buddhist Community - Newtown follows the traditional Tibetan Buddhist tradition of developing ones spiritual practice through the regular practice of meditation, chanting, and ceremonies. A typical program may include daily morning meditation (with chanting and/or prostrations to the Buddha); Buddhist study classes and explorations of Buddhist philosophy; regular weekly meeting for Buddhist discussion and sharing; and special Dharmasangha days and retreat days. Chanting is an important part of Australian Triratna Buddhist Community practice with chanting usually occurring daily and before and after special ceremonies. In addition, the Centre often arranges all-night chanting sessions and engages in a variety of blessing ceremonies and rituals throughout the year.
