Worship Method:

The Caotang Temple is a typical Chinese Buddhist temple mainly devoted to the worship of Guanyin Bodhisattva. The worship method of this temple involves various kinds of rituals. On the left side of the main hall stand two towers. One is a portrait of Guanyin Bodhisattva, and the other is the Dharma Hall. All the rituals at the temple are performed in front of the statues of the Bodhisattva. The first ritual is to offer incense and flowers to the statues as an offering. Many pilgrims bow down before the statues while chanting sutras or prayers. After this ritual, a monk at the temple will then offer tea and snacks as a blessing. People also make donations to the temple as a kind of gratitude to the Bodhisattva. Furthermore, pilgrims light candles and lamps and use these for prayer. They also spin prayer wheels and set off firecrackers to create or dispel misfortune. People may also arrange small altars which display the sutras and images of the Bodhisattva.
