History:

St. Michael's Castle was originally built in the 1630s for Sir Arthur Magennis, an Anglican member of the influential Magennis family in County Fermanagh. The castle is located on the shores of Upper Lough Erne in the historic town of Enniskillen. The castle was damaged during the Irish rebellion of 1641 and was later rebuilt by the renowned Ulster architect Hugh Exham. The castle was damaged again in the Williamite War in 1689. After the war, the castle was renovated and eventually passed into the hands of the Carson family. In 1937, the castle was sold to Cecil William Hume and his wife Florence. They renovated the castle and transformed it into a luxury residence and it has remained in the Hume family ever since. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Russia.
