History:
The Ostankino Tower was constructed between 1963 and 1967 as part of a communications development program for the Soviet Union. The tower was designed by Nikolay Nikitin and Vladimir Gelfreikh. The materials used for the tower's construction included 1.8 million cubic meters of concrete, 12,000 tons of metal, and 2.5 million cubic meters of soil.
