Kazan Cathedral is a Russian Orthodox cathedral located in St. Petersburg, Russia. It is one of the most important churches in the city and was built in 1811 to commemorate the victory of the Russian army over the forces of Napoleon’s invasion of Russia in 1812. The church was designed by Andrey Voronikhin in the neoclassical style and features a 106-meter high bell tower. The church is dedicated to Our Lady of Kazan, a much-revered Russian icon.
