Shri Subramanya Kovil is dedicated to the worship ofGod Subramanya and follows the ancient Vedic rites and customs. The four sisters, also known as the Nava Grahas, are at the heart of the temple's rituals and objects of veneration. At Shri Subramanya Kovil, four symbolic objects – a coconut, betel nut, betel leaves and camphor – are offered to the four sisters before the God Subramanya. Pujas(prayers) are held to seek the blessings of each of the four sisters. It is believed that offering such objects pleases the Divine, and seekers of blessings from Shri Subramanya will be blessed with wisdom and spiritual knowledge. The sisters are considered to be the gatekeepers of the temple, and it is believed that only after receiving their blessings can a devotee truly seek the favor of God Subramanya. At the temple, devotees are also asked to prostrate and perform puja to God Subramanya before entering the temple. The temple priests are said to bless the devotees with prosperity, health and happiness. The four sisters are worshipped on special occasions such as the opening of a new shrine, major religious subjects and festivals.
