Temple of Ramesses III at Medinet Habu is an ancient temple in Egypt, located near the modern city of Luxor. Built in the 12th century BC, the temple is dedicated to the Pharaoh Ramesses III, and served as his funerary temple, memorializing his reign as the last great pharaoh of the New Kingdom. The temple features 114 scenes along its exterior walls that depict Ramesses' military campaigns, as well as various religious rituals and offerings to various gods. Within the temple are two major sanctuaries, one dedicated to Amun-Re and the other to Re-Harakhti. Additionally, the temple features several smaller chapels and gateways, surrounded by a symbolic enclosure wall with two large gateways. The temple was a major cult center and pilgrimage destination throughout the ancient world, and remains an important cultural site today.
