The worship of Mars Ultor was conducted mainly in the temple of Mars Ultor in Rome. According to archaeological records, the temple was established by Julius Caesar in 45 BCE. The temple was situated on the Forum Romanum. The temple contained an altar where Roman legionaries involved in campaigns, including those in Hispania, would deposit tokens or other objects related to their wars in order to pay homage to the god who helped them achieve success. Furthermore, it is known that in this temple sacrifices were offered to Mars Ultor in honor of the successes of the Roman army. Priests, known as Flamen Martialis, were devoted to the cult of Mars and devoted to conducting certain festivals, ceremonies, and sacrifices in his honor.
