Ryazan Kremlin is a fortified complex located in the city of Ryazan, Russia. Originally constructed in the early 13th century, the Kremlin was greatly expanded over the years, eventually becoming the residence of the Princes of Ryazan in the 15th century.
Ryazan Kremlin History
The first major constructions at the Kremlin began in 1180 under Prince George of Ryazan, who made the town his residence in 1182. Later, Prince Konstantin Stogovo strengthened the fortress and rebuilt the wooden walls with stone to make them stronger. The city was damaged numerous times by fires and floods but it continued to be a major administrative center and fortress. Over time, the Kremlin was expanded and improved, as many new buildings and fortifications were added. By the end of the 15th century, it had become the main residence of the Princes of Ryazan.

The Ryazan Kremlin has been well-preserved and it still stands today as one of the best examples of medieval Russian fortifications. It has 9 towers, 4 gates, and an earthen wall that encircles the fortress. The most notable tower is the Spasskaya Tower, which is located on the eastern side of the fortress. This tower is also the entrance to the fortress, as it houses the Spassky Gate, which was the only way in and out of the fortress.

Today, the Ryazan Kremlin is open to visitors and tours are available. Additionally, the Kremlin also hosts festivals, cultural programs, concerts, and exhibitions throughout the year.
