Prominent Features:

Pepi II’s pyramid is one of the most recognizable structures from ancient Egypt. Located at the necropolis of Saqqara, it stands approximately 77 feet tall and is believed to have been built around 2,375 BC. It was originally part of a large and elaborate complex, consisting of a temple complex, a mortuary temple, and its own pyramid temple, which was reached by a long causeway lined with sphinx statues. The main feature of the pyramid is its stepped structure, which rises from a base of six steps up to the burial chamber. On each step, there are more finely crafted granite blocks, adorned with hieroglyphic reliefs. The pyramid was built out of limestone blocks, measuring 12-feet-long and weighing over three tons each, and interestingly, it was the first Pyramid of Memphis to be constructed with an outer casing of smooth, white limestone. History:

The Pyramid of Pepi II is a funerary monument located in the necropolis of Saqqara, Egypt. It was built in the late 6th or early 7th Dynasty in around 2297 BC, during the reign of Pepi II, the longest-reigning pharaoh in Egyptian history (94 years). The pyramid was built by Prince Ankheredre, who was believed to have been a son of Pepi II, in order to serve as the pharaoh's tomb. The pyramid stands around 10 meters in height and is encased in limestone and mud-brick. It has two small entrances underneath one of its sides, where two underground corridors lead to the burial chamber. Inside the burial chamber, archeologists have found pottery, wooden and ivory figurines, and a small alabaster sarcophagus containing Pepi II's remains. Today, the Pyramid of Pepi II is in ruins, though some of its limestone casing still survives. Much of what we know about the pyramid's construction comes from archeological artifacts and hieroglyphic inscriptions, as well as oral traditions, which connect the pyramid to the cult of the rising sun, and King Pepi II's reign.
