Our Lady of Clonfert is an ancient shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary located in Clonfert, Ireland. The shrine is believed to have been founded by St. Brendan “the Navigator” in the 6th century, and has been a popular destination for pilgrims over the centuries. The area contains the original grave site, an old church, and a restored monument dedicated to Our Lady of Clonfert. The current church was built in 1843 and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Services are still held in the Church of Notre-Dame de Clonfert regularly, including a special mass in July, which marks St. Brendan’s death. There are also special ceremonies organized throughout the summer season, including processions and music events.
