The Cathedral of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is located at 1123 Walnut Street in the city's Downtown section. The cathedral was built in the Romanesque Revival style of architecture in 1872 and was dedicated in 1876. It is the mother church of all the parishes throughout the diocese.

The Cathedral of the Assumption was founded in 1843 and was originally located at Seventh Avenue and Grant Street in downtown Pittsburgh. Bishop Michael O'Connor selected Peter Koch as the lead architect for the new building and construction began in 1872. The building was dedicated in 1876 and is a historical landmark of the Diocese of Pittsburgh. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Ireland.

The Cathedral is constructed of brick and stone and is in the Romanesque Revival style of architecture. It is 130 feet long and 55 feet wide and features two bell towers that are each 120 feet tall. Inside the Cathedral there are ten chapels, a baptismal font and one of the largest organs in Pittsburgh.
