History:

The Abruzzo National Park in Italy, located in the Apennine Mountains of central Italy, was established on September 21, 1922, by Royal Decree No. 1369, making it the oldest national park in the country. It is also the first Italian national park to be recognized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
