E L and Mrs. Ethel Wright in 1913, after they came to Zimbabwe in response to a call from God. The original congregation met in a tent in Avondale, a suburb of Harare. Since then, the church has maintained a vibrant ministry, evangelism and outreach to the people of Zimbabwe. With a mission to “Glorify God through Biblically-based worship, evangelism, ministry and service to God’s chosen people”, Avondale Church of Christ in Zimbabwe continues to reach out to the people of Zimbabwe, and beyond. Today, it has branches of the church in five different locations, including Harare, Mutare, Bulawayo and Masvingo.
