Pho Minh Pagoda, located in Nam Dinh, Vietnam, is one of the largest and oldest pagodas in the country. It is a complex of multiple buildings, including a large main complex with multiple shrines, as well as smaller shrines and administrative buildings. The main complex is made up of three main buildings, each dedicated to the Three Jewels of Buddhism, which represent the path of liberation from suffering: the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. The main worship method used for the pagoda is prostration, or paying respects. Worshipers will stand or kneel in front of the shrine and bow three times, offering incense, flowers, and food. This is followed by prayers, mindfulness meditations, and Buddhacare exercises. Additionally, visitors are encouraged to practice walking meditation within the pagoda grounds. During this practice, one walks slowly and mindfully along a designated path. Along the way, practitioners can pause and meditate at any of the shrines they pass. They may also perform prostrations along this path, just as one does while in the inner sanctum of the temple. Finally, when worshipping at Pho Minh Pagoda, visitors are invited to join in the daily chanting sessions. This is a communal practice in which everyone chants sutras or other Buddhist texts along with the monk presiding over the session. Practicing this discipline helps to deepen one’s understanding of the teachings and gain a greater sense of peace and serenity. This most visited temple in Vietnam
