Brief History:
Muğdat Mosque, or Ulu Mosque, is a 17th century Ottoman style mosque located in Çankaya, Istanbul, Turkey. It is named after a renowned Ottoman Sufi saint, Muğdat-ı Fakir (Fakir Muğdat), who originally lived in a nearby cave in what is now Muğdat Park. The mosque complex, including a stone fountain, was built by architect Davud Aga in 1690 and was today's registered historical monument in 1982. The mosque features an octagonal plan and is adorned with a single minaret. The entrance is highlighted by two marble columns. Inside the mosque, the prayer hall and its walls are decorated with ornamental floral and geometric patterns. The elevated mihrab and the pulpit, decorated with stucco motifs, are particularly noteworthy. The decorations, consisting of baroque and Ottoman Iznik tiles, date back to the 18th and 19th century. The third storey of the mosque houses a library and a calligraphy room. It is one of the most famous mosque in Turkey which you must visit.
