Adiyaman Museum (Adiyaman Müzesi) is one of the largest museums in Turkey, located in Adiyaman Province. The museum was officially opened on 28 September, 2015, and currently holds over 10,000 items from many different eras, including prehistory, classical, Byzantine, and Ottoman times. The exhibition rooms are sectioned off into galleries dedicated to each historical period. Prehistory is covered with a gallery featuring artifacts from stone and bronze ages, as well as the Roman and Byzantine periods. Another display covers the hieroglyphs found on the site of the ancient city of Sanliurfa, which was an important center of culture from the 23rd century BC to the 15th century AD. Other galleries cover jewelry, pottery and glassware, and sculptures from various periods. One special room showcases the archaeological excavations conducted to uncover the remains of the ancient city of Sanliurfa. The museum also boasts a modern library, garden, and a café. Adiyaman Museum is part of the Provincial Cultural Heritage Preservation and Natural Conservation Directorate, which is responsible for ensuring the quality and cultural significance of the museum's collections.
