History:
The Dubai Autodrome was first announced in October 2004 and construction began in February of 2005. Located in the heart of Motor City in the United Arab Emirates, the exclusive 5.39 kilometer race track has been home to some of the best and most respected racing events since opening in 2004. The intricate track design was overseen by Formula One drivers David Coulthard and Narain Karthikeyan (now the motorsport advisor to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum). The track officially opened its gates in November 2004 when the final section of the raceway was completed. Since its grand opening, the Dubai Autodrome has hosted some of the most important and most acclaimed events in the world of motor sport. Using a multi-use track, the race track has hosted a variety of events for cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles. The race track has been home to the F1 Powerboat World Championship, Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East, UAE GT, UAE Touring Car Championship, UAE Motorcycle Racing Championship, Emirates MotorSports Federation National Drag Racing Championship, UIM F1H2O World Championship, and the Formula One Grand Prix Series.
