The Lofeagai Church was founded in 1991 by a Finnish-speaking missionary couple, Reverends Leif and Anne-Mari Rantala. Since joining the Pentecostal Church of Tuvalu, the church has grown to become the largest church in Tuvalu, with an active congregation of approximately 800 members, who are mainly indigenous islanders of various Christian denominations. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Tuvalu.
