Falelotu Fakalelei '88 In Tonga: History,Facts, & Services
Falelotu Fakalelei '88 was a Tongan organization formed in 1988 to serve the Tongan community living in Auckland, New Zealand. The organization was founded by Taukolo Kolomaile and Fa'aelu Maka. The purpose of the organization was to provide social, cultural, educational and mentoring services to Tongan people living in the region. Services included providing assistance to new immigrants, connecting them with useful information and helping them integrate into mainstream New Zealand society. Falelotu Fakalelei '88 also operated an educational assistance program, which provided access to tertiary courses tailored to Tongans. The organization included activities such as music, sport, art, and an annual Summer Youth Camp. Falelotu Fakalelei '88 closed in 2014 due to a lack of funding.
