History:
is a Thai temple located in the historical park of Phitsanulok in the Phitsanulok Province of northern Thailand. It is also known as Wat Yai, which means “big temple”. The temple was founded in 1357, during the reign of King U Thong of the Sukhothai kingdom. The temple complex consists of a main stupa, several small stupas, and various halls and pavilions. The main attraction of the temple is its grand standing Buddha statue, which is 24 meters tall. The statue, which faces east, is carved from sandstone and depicts the Buddha in a meditative posture. The method of worship at Wat Phutthaisawan in Thailand involves paying respect and homage to the Buddha in a number of ways. Other rituals at Wat Phutthaisawan include processionals and group chanting at religious festivals.
