Worship Method:

As with most temple rituals in Thailand, Wat Pha Tak Suea’s worship method begins with merit making and meditation. Thai Buddhists perform their merit making activities in a series of tasks. The first task begins at the entrance gate where worshippers offer incense and flowers to the guardian spirits believed to protect the temple. They then prostrate three times while chanting the Pali scriptures of praise. The worshippers then move inside the temple and make offerings of food, drinks and flowers at the altar of the main Buddha statue, the seated golden Buddha. Monks chant Pali scriptures in front of the image as part of the ritual. In addition to this, worshippers also pray for grant of wishes while circling the main Buddha statue three times and then exiting the temple again. Some may prostrate up to three times at the entrance gate, the same as with their arrival. Wat Pha Tak Suea’s worship method also involves regular meditation on special days for the temple, such as Makha Bucha Day.
