History:

Worship Method:
At Wat Phra Pathom Chedi in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand, adherents to traditional Buddhist worship practices offer several methods of veneration. Devotees kneel in front of the stupa and chant prayers or mantras. Offerings, such as flowers, incense, and food, may be given. It is thought to bring good luck and purification to those who sprinkle sacred water on the stupa. One popular worship practice is to circumambulate, or walk around, the stupa in a clockwise direction and meditate on Buddhist teachings. Monks and members of the lay community make merit-making trips around the stupa. During the three-month period from April to June, special activities are held to celebrate the anniversary of the construction of the stupa.
