Worship Method:

The worship method used in Sri Pothuluri Veerabrahmendra Swamy Temple is based on an ancient Vedic ritual system, known as Vedic Shaivam. Here, the Lord Veerabrahmendra Swamy is placed in a special Panchamukha (five-faced) form made of granite stone, in the form of Shiva Lingam. The worship begins with Abhisheka, or an offering of water, milk, honey, sandalwood and kumkum. This is followed by a traditional arati with loud recitals of Mantras, deepa arati with oil lamps, and Naivedya, or offering of food. Then the chimedu, or a consecration ceremony with 7 Paiks, is performed. The Mangala Lekhai, or a special blessing ritual, is also performed. Devotees then perform circumambulation (Pradaka or Parikrama) around the Lord’s shrine, paying obeisance and offering prayers. After this, Pada Pooja (reverential offering of rice to the Lord’s feet) is offered. Lastly, the Aarti is performed.
