It was constructed and is maintained by Sri Narayani Peedam, a non-profit spiritual organization headed by Sri Sakthi Amma. The temple was inaugurated on 24 August 2007 and opened to the public on 1 September 2007. The name Sripuram stands for “Spiritual Park”. The temple is an eight-storeyed structure, which is almost 800 feet long and 600 feet wide, and is built in the shape of an eight-petal lotus flower. It is covered in gold, with a total of 800 kg of gold used for the sculptures on the walls. The center of the temple houses the main deity, Sri Narayani. Worship Method:

The worship method of Sripuram Golden Temple is in accordance with Saiva-Agama rituals of Tamil Nadu. Worship involves: 1. Puja or worship with mantras, flowers and medicinal herbs. 2. Visaranai and kappu (special prayers). 3. Abhishekam or bathing the deity with the prescribed amount of water, sandalwood paste, kumkum, holy ash, milk etc. 4. Archana or chanting mantras for each Avinasi. 5. Dhoopa Deepa Naivedya - offering of specially prepared incense, lights and food to the deity. 6. Circumambulating God and chanting mantras. 7. Pradakshina or circumambulating the Golden Temple along the outer pathway, chanting “Aum Sri MahaLakshmi Namah”. 8. Idai and nivedeetha (offering special prayers). 9.
