The mission preached Christianity and provided medical assistance and education to the indigenous inhabitants of Santa Boma. The church also provided material support to the local population in the form of food, farming tools, and building materials for their homes. Over time, the mission gained in popularity and membership, and in the early twentieth century, the Santa Boma congregation grew in size and influence. The Catholic and Romano-Catholic churches provided the funds and personnel necessary to keep it functioning. The church also provided education for the children of the local population and ran the Santa Boma hospital. In the present day, the Santa Boma congregation is a mix of Protestantism and traditional Amerindian culture. The Reverend Sanjayan is the current pastor of the Santa Boma congregation.
