The most direct route to the temple is to take the A9 (Kandy - Jaffna) Highway from Colombo and travel to Vavuniya. From Vavuniya, turn into the Mahakachikudi road, travel for 17 km and turn left at the Kurinchamunai Junction onto Maha kachikudi road towards Poonthoddam.
