The Thambiluvil Sivan Temple is a very important temple in Sri Lanka and the worship method is traditional and follows ancient spiritual customs. Generally, the worship is conducted in the morning and the evening. The priest begins the worship by ringing the bell and chanting mantras. He then lights the lamps and offers flowers and incense to the deity. Offerings such as fruits, coconuts and milk are also presented. After the puja, a special Arati is performed with lamps. The devotees are expected to stand in line and pay their respects to the deity, silently observing the offerings being made, and the chanting and singing. They should dress conservatively and carry a small plate of picked flowers with them.
