The worship method at Sri Kathirvelautha Swamy Temple includes a number of traditional rituals and offerings. On a daily basis, prayers are offered to the Lord at the beginning of each day and at the end of the day, including the kodaimazhai (auspicious time) period. During the weekly and monthly festivals celebrated at the temple, the worshippers make special offerings to the Lord such as coconut, flowers, fruits, and vegetables. A seven tier cake (Thaali kukumam) is also offered as part of the ritual. It is believed that the Lord, in his grace and compassion grants the wishes of his devotees. Special poojas such as Punar Poosai, Annabul, Munivar Nombu, and other types of rituals are conducted to seek the divine blessings from the Lord. Aarti (hymns) and kirtans (devotional songs) fill the air during special occasions such as Thursdays, full moon pujas. The Sri Kathirvelautha Swamy Temple is located in Kegalle, which is on the main road from Colombo to Kandy. The nearest major city is Kandy, which is approximately 80km away. You can reach Kegalle by bus or train from Kandy. If travelling by road, it takes around an hour to reach Kegalle. From Kandy, you can take a bus at the Kandy Bus Stand and get down at Kegalle Bus Stand.
