The Odakarai Sivan Temple is a popular Hindu temple located in Chanknai South, Valikamam West in Sri Lanka. As with many Hindu temples in Sri Lanka, the primary worship method is the offering of flowers (puja) and chanting of holy mantras (mantra japa). With Odakarai Sivan Temple, devotees perform puja to the deity within the sanctum and also outside the temple. There are several important ceremonies performed such as the Abhishekam (libation) and Yanthirai (offering of lamps), both of which help to create serenity and sanctity.
