Worship Method:
The worship method of Nageswarar temple at Kamdickalai, Savalakkadai in Sri Lanka is performed according to the ancient traditions, beliefs, customs and practices of the Hindu faith. Devotees usually begin by performing puja (ritual prayer) at the shrine of Nageswarar, which is presided over by the Lord Nageswarar. This puja involves offering oblations, such as flowers, incense, lamp oil, puffed rice, fruits and vegetables, and sacred items such as turmeric powder. After the puja has been offered and accepted, devotees are free to ask the Lord for his blessings. After the puja is over, devotees may also perform abhishekam (ritual bath) of Lord Nageswarar. This abhishekam involves offering pure water mixed with saffron, incense, sandalwood, camphor and other sacred items.
