The Vairavar Temple in Samippulam, Poonakari (also known as Maviddapuram temple) is one of the few ancient temples dedicated to Lord Murugan in Sri Lanka. This temple is a very important part of Sri Lankan Hindu culture and heritage. The worship method in the Vairavar Temple follows the traditions of the famous South Indian Siddha system of Sri Lanka. Here Lord Murugan is worshipped in the form of the Supreme Lord, known as Vairavar. Offerings such as fruits, flowers, coconuts and milk are made to the Lord each day.
