History:

dates back to at least 1000 B.C. It is one of the legendary "Pancha Ishwara Sthalam" temples in the isle and is one of the few ancient temples continuously worshipping the deities for more than 3500 years. The temple follows the Advaita philosophy of Shaivism and worship is centered around a Shivalinga made of Sangari (red clay). Worship includes daily Pujas, Abhishekams, Homa (fire) Pujas, special rituals and festivals. Offerings include flowers, fruits, incense, oil lamps and food.
