Worship Method:
The traditional worship method of Throupathayamman Temple in Pulliyantivu, Batticaloa is based on the Shaiva tradition of Tamil culture. This temple is dedicated to the God Shiva, who is believed to be the destroyer and regenerator of the universe. Worshipers come to the temple to offer their prayers and seek blessings from the God. The worshipers first offer their prayers at the entrance gates of the temple and then enter the temple. They offer their prayers and perform various religious rituals such as reciting mantras, offering flowers and Prasadams to the deity and doing a special kind of worship called Abhishekam. After Abhishekam, mantras are recited dedicated to Lord Shiva and then the worshiper goes around the temple in clockwise direction.
