The Thantrontreeswarar Temple is located in Oddusuddan in Sri Lanka. It is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the Pancha Bootha Kshetrams. The temple follows the style of worship of the Saivite sect of Hinduism. On entering the temple, the devotees are supposed to take off their footwear and perform pradakshina (circumambulation) of the main sanctum sanctorum to seek blessings from Lord Thantreeswarar. Devotees can then offer prayers to Lord Shiva and also seek divine intervention for any of their wishes. With the help of the priests, devotees can perform Archana (chanting of hymns), recitation of mantras and Yamunastaka. While in the temple, devotees can also perform Abhishekham (bathing the deity) and offer Durva grass, milk, sandalwood paste etc. In addition to these, devotees can listen to and perform Kirtan (devotional singing) of songs dedicated to Lord Shiva, which is usually accompanied by the nagaswaram (a wind instrument).
