History:

St. Sebastian's Cathedral was originally a small chapel built in 1676 by Dutch and Portuguese settlers in the area. It was later remodeled and enlarged by Fr. Fulgentius Pick who in 1790 named it as St. Sebastian's Cathedral. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Srilanka.
