Worship Method:

The worship method of the Sivan Temple in Muchampulavu, Puloly South, Point Pedro, Sri Lanka, is based on the tenets of Hinduism, and the worship of Lord Siva, the Preserver of the Universe. The temple is open from 8.00am - 12.00 noon and from 6.00pm - 8.30pm on week days and 8.00am - 12.00 noon and from 4.00pm - 8.30pm on Sundays and public holidays. Worship rituals are performed by a priest with assistance from other temple personnel. The rituals of worship include chanting of devotional hymns, offering of puja items such as flowers, fruits, incense sticks, deepam (oil lamp) and chanting of mantras. Aarti, which is the waving of a lit flame to the deity, is also performed. Devotees are also required to clean and decorate the temple on festive occasions such as Maha Shivaratri. The temple also organizes special rituals and ceremonies on festivals such as Maha Shivaratri, Navarathri, Thirukkalyanam, and Thirunavakarasu Pooja.
