is an archaeological site in Central Mexico about 60 km southeast of the City of Puebla. It is located in the municipalities of San Nicolás de los Ranchos and Chiautzingo, Puebla, in the area known as La Huasteca. This site has evidence of Pre-Hispanic cultural occupation from 800 BCE until around 1550 CE, during which time it served as an important civic and religious center. The archaeological remains include monolithic stone sculptures, temple mounds and foundations, stela and pilon platforms, tombs, ballcourts and plazas. The people of Yohualichan in the state of Puebla, Mexico worship the ancient goddess Hyoax in a variety of ways. Worshipers make offerings of native flowers, candles, incense sticks, and fruit to the goddess as well as participating in rituals and feasts throughout the year. Worshipers often place fertility symbols around the area and perform rituals such as planting the seven sacred seeds of corn. They also hike up the volcano on special days to give thanks and ask for blessings from Hyoax.
