The Step Pyramid was commissioned by Pharaoh Djoser and designed by his royal chancellor Imhotep. When it was completed, the pyramid was a testament to Pharaoh Djoser’s vision and power. The pyramid was built by stacking mastabas on top of each other, eventually creating the six-tier pyramid we know today. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Egypt.

The Step Pyramid is a large structure, measuring in at sixty meters (196 feet) high and two hundred meters (656 feet) wide. It is made of limestone blocks imported from nearby quarries. The pyramid also contains numerous underground chambers and passageways, with the total length of the passages being around two thousand meters (6,561 feet).
