St Nicholas Church, Brighton is an Anglican parish church located in the Kemp Town area of the city of Brighton and Hove, England. It is part of the Diocese of Chichester. The church was designed by Sir Charles Barry and built in 1844–45 as a chapel-of-ease to the Parish Church of St Peter, Kemp Town. It is one of the best-known churches in Brighton and Hove, and is a dominant feature of the area.

History:
St Nicholas Church was the last building designed by Sir Charles Barry in Brighton and Hove, before his death in 1860. It was built in 1844–45 as part of a series of chapels-of-ease in Kemp Town to relieve the overcrowding at the Parish Church of St Peter’s. The opening of St Nicholas’ in 1845 followed earlier openings of St Mary’s in 1827 and Christ Church in 1831. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in England.

St Nicholas Church features a 73ft spire, made of brick and limestone and was built by local builders John Jenkins and Sons. The stained glass windows in the church were designed by Sir Charles Barry’s son Edward Middleton Barry. The church also features a number of notable monuments and war memorials, including a World War I memorial plaque, dedicated in 1918.
